HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 3rd Independent Battery, Wisconsin Light Artillery was organized at Racine, Wisconsin, and mustered in October 10, 1861. It was ordered to Louisville, Ky., January 23, 1862, and duty there until March 10. It moved to Murfreesboro and had garrison duty there until July. The Regiment mustered out July 20, 1865. The 3rd Independent Battery initially recruited 170 officers and men. An additional 67 men were recruited as replacements, for a total of 237 men. The Battery lost during service 6 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 21 Enlisted men by disease. Total 27.

Mustered out July 20, 1865.
