2nd Independent Battery Wisconsin Light Artillery
HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 2nd Independent Battery, Wisconsin Light Artillery was organized at LaCrosse and mustered in at Racine, Wisconsin, October 10, 1861. It moved to Baltimore, Md., thence to Fortress Monroe, Va., January 21-27, 1862, and garrison duty there until September. At the end of the war, it had duty to guard prisoners at Point Lookout, Maryland, January 20,1864 until July 1865. It mustered out July 10, 1865. The Battery lost during service 12 by disease.

Camp Hamilton, Va., 7th Army Corps, Dept. of Virginia, to January, 1863. Artillery Division at Suffolk, Va., 7th Army Corps, to April, 1863. Artillery, 1st Division, 7th Army Corps, to June, 1863. 2nd Brigade, 1st Division. 4th Army Corps, Dept. of Virginia, to August, 1863. Artillery, Yorktown, Va., Dept. of Virginia and North Carolina, to January, 1864. Point Lookout, Md., to July, 1865.

Moved to Camp Hamilton, Hampton, Va., September, 1862, and duty there until January 10, 1863. Moved to Suffolk, Va., January 10. Action at Deserted House January 30. Siege of Suffolk, Va., April 11-May 4. Norfleet House April 15. Moved to Portsmouth, Va., May 6; thence to West Point. Dix's Peninsula Campaign June 24-July 7. Moved to Yorktown, Va., July 20, and duty there until January 20, 1864. Moved to Point Lookout, Md., January 20, and duty there guarding prisoners until July, 1865. Mustered out July 10, 1865.
