12th Field Battery, Texas Light Artillery


HISTORICAL NOTES: The Texas 12th Artillery Regiment was organized on November 1, 1862 under authority of Brigadier General H.H. Sibley on April 30, 1862. It was armed with six guns, which had been captured at Valverde on February 21, 1862. It was designated as the 12th Field Artillery Battery on November 19, 1864. It was armed with two 3" Rifles and two 12-lb. Howitzers in May 1865. The battery was surrendered by General E.K. Smith, commanding Trans-Mississippi Department, on May 26, 1865. FIELD OFFICERS:
