Allen, Andrew In Mrs. Mariah Allen's Pension aplication it is stated that she has been on State Pension as a Class 4. What does this mean? The application is designated a Widow Application under Act of 1919. She was married to Andrew Allen- 2nd Co B -SC Infantry. [This is not a proper regiment designation, and he does not appear on the rolls of the 2nd Infantry Regiment - Company B.] Cards say he first enlisted in Charleston by Capt. Mathison April 1861, for 1 year. Next card says enlisted in Columbia on July 21, 1862 by Col. Preston for 3 years.Last card says May & June 64 says Present-In Hospital-since returned. It was told often by my Grandmother that he was an angry man because he substituted for someone and was never paid. Any way to check this. Granmother lived with her grandparents Andrew and Mariah Allen until she married. REF: SBKK75A@prodigy.com (MR FRITZ C GLADFELTER)
