Mississippi 2nd Cavalry Battalion Reserves

Historical Notes:
The Mississippi 2nd Cavalry Battalion Reserves was organized August 4, 1864 with seven companies; three companies added September 3, 1864 forming regiment. Subsequently First Regiment, Mississippi Cavalry Reserves. It was surrendered by Lt. Gen. Richard Taylor, commanding the Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana, at Meridian, Mississippi on May 4, 1865. Officers:

  • November 1864-February 1865: Denis' Cavalry Brigade, Northern Sub-district, District of Mississippi and East Louisiana, Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana
  • February-May 1865: Denis' Cavalry Brigade, Sub-District of North Mississippi and West Tennessee, District of Mississippi and East Louisiana, Department of Alabama, Mississippi, and East Louisiana
