Historical Notes:
The 21st Regiment, Michigan Infantry was organized at Ionia and Grand Rapids, Michigan and mustered in September 9, 1862. It was mustered out June 8, 1865. The regiment suffered 3 officers and 80 enlisted men who were killed in action or mortally wounded and 3 officers and 291 enlisted men who died of disease, for a total of 377 fatalities.
