HISTORICAL NOTES:
The Illinois 13th Cavalry Regiment was organized with eight Companies at Camp Douglass, Ill., October 30, 1861, to February 20, 1862. The Regiment moved to Benton Barracks, Mo., December, 1861, and duty there until February, 1862. It was consolidated to a Battalion of 3 Companies May 20, 1863, and seven new Companies assigned February, 1864.
The Regiment lost during service 21 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 4 Officers and 360 Enlisted men by disease. Total 385.
