Illinois 109th Infantry Regiment



Historical Notes HISTORICAL NOTES:
The 109th Illinois Infantry was organized at Camp Anna, Ill., and mustered in September 11, 1862. The Regiment disbanded April 10, 1863, having lost 237 by desertion and officers (excepting those of Company "K") having proved themselves utterly incompetent. Company "K" transferred to 11th Illinois Infantry.

District of Jackson, 16th Army Corps, to January, 1863. District of Memphis, Tenn., 16th Army Corps, to April, 1863. Service SERVICE:
    Grant's Central Mississippi Campaign November, 1862, to January, 1863. At Memphis until March, 1863. Moved to Lake Providence, La. Rosters ROSTERS:
    The roster of this regiment contains the names of 1294 men.
