Georgia 7th Cavalry Battalion State Guards



HISTORICAL NOTES:
This battalion was organized with seven companies in the summer of 1863. It was mustered into Confederate service for six months as a local defense unit to serve within the state of Georgia on 4 AUG 1863. It was mustered out in February 1864. Crute makes no mention of this battalion in his compilation.

Shivers, James A. - Major
Stephens, Linton - Major, Lieut. Colonel -step brother of Alexander Stephens.
