Georgia 5th Infantry Regiment State Guards

Historical Notes:
The Georgia State Troops were volunteer soldiers in state (rather than Confederate) service from October, 1861 to April, 1862 as defenders of the Georgia coast. Many companies enlisted as a unit in the Confederate army after their six-month term in the Georgia State Troops ended. Assignments:
