HISTORICAL NOTES:
Number of men enrolled - 107
Originally Captain J. B. Read's Independent Ga. Infantry. Also known as Co. B, "Irish Vols. This company left Tybee Island November 19, 1861 with a part of the 1st Volunteer Regiment and the 25th Regiment Ga. Infantry, Colonel C. C. Wilson. Was stationed at Savannah until December 3d when it was ordered by General Lawton to report to General Mercer at Brunswick. General Mercer ordered the company to Saint Simons. The discipline and efficiency of the corps has been promoted by the last change of position.
