George enlisted in the 1st GA Confederate Infantry but transferred to the 1st GA Volunteer Cavalry and given command of Co. "H". Elements of his Regiment fought in Kentucky, Kennesaw and in the Battle of Stones River. Later they defended Atlanta when Sherman and his Army tried to force surrender of Atlanta. His Regiment was a part of Gen. Nathan B. Forrest's command under overall command of Gen. Wheeler.
1st.Lt. Robinson resigned his commission in 1864 but appears to have remained in the Confederate Army for several more months. His service record is on microfilm in the Georgia Archives in Atlanta.
After the war George is believed to have become a lawyer but in the 1870 census he was listed as a real estate agent. He disappeared by 1880 when the next census was taken. The name of his child was listed in the 1870 census but he may have had additional children. No additional information available.
