"D" (Turner's Company) 29th GA Regt and continued until Paroled, 1865." (It's a little hard to read the "Turner's Company" writing, but I believe that is what it says.
3. 1907-8 Census, Tax Collector, Cherokee Co., Ala. 1907-8 stating same information above and that he was born 11-5-1839, Henry County, GA and now (1907) lives in Cedar Bluff, Ala.
4. Document from the WAR DEPARTMENT The Adjutant General's Office Washington, Feb 25, 1921 Stating "the name John Aaron Chandler has not been found on the only two rolls on file for Co. D, 29th. Regt. Ga. Inf., C.S.A., for Oct. 1 to 31, 1861 and Nov. & Dec. 1861. Regimental returns of the 29th Regt. Ga, Inf. CSA, for the months of Oct and Nov. 1862, show J.A. Chandler, pvt, Co. D, absent sick. Union Pris. of War records show that John A. Chandler, Pvt, Co. B 29th Regt. Ga. Inf. CSA, was captured near Nashville, Tenn. Dec. 16, 1864, and discharged at Camp Douglas, Ill. 5. State of Alabama, Alabama Pension Commission, Dated February 14, 1921 addressed to Adjutant General, Washington, DC, stating "Please furnish this department with records of service, capture or parol of, John Aaron Chandler, Enlisted June 29th, 1862 As a private in Co., D, 29th, Ga., Inf. 6. A document entitled "CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE OF HUSBAND OF APPLICANT BY A CONFEDERATE VETERAN" Which is in very shakey hand writing, but says, that the veteran had personal knowledge that John Aaron Chandler served n the confederate army and his captain was John W. Turner and Colonel was William D. Mitchell, Co D 29 Reg GA, the veteran signing states he belongs to a comp of conf. vets. called Johns Highorns, (not sure very bad writing) but I can read, Summerville, GA...the guy's signature is also very hard to read...I'm going to try to guess.....Y. K. Walters..though it actually looks like Y. K. Waeutrers., 16 Jan. 1921.
7. Application for pension stating same and that he was shot and wounded. That his wife married him Dec. 29, 1874 and he died in Cherokee Co. Ala. 2-9-1912.
