NOTE:Whitfield and Amanda were cousins. Amanda married George Mathis in 1850. Whiltfield married Sarah Gilcrease and later moved to Baker County, Georgia. I haven't figured out if the Addisons had any relationship to the Doby family yet or if they were just boarders, but that's what I would put since they weren't Martha Doby's children. My guess would be that Martha Doby was a widow, and he was doing the farming in exchange for room & board since the census says he was a farmer. Amanda's mother died when she was very small so it may be that she was raised by this woman or was just sent to live with her to learn homemaking skills. She married about 2 months after this census. - Email from Adriane Adams - adriane.adams@gmail.com
