4th Regiment, Confederate Infantry


HISTORICAL NOTES:
The CSA 4th Infantry Regiment, formerly the 1st Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi Regiment, was formed during October, 1862. It soon became the 54th Alabama Infantry Regiment. OFFICERS:
Colonel Alpheus Baker, Lieutenant Colonel John A. Minter, and Majors Joseph Barbiere and Thaddeus H. Shackelford.
ROSTERS:
The compiled service records of this unit contains the names of 1635 men and the roster of the 54th Alabama contains the names of 757 men. The disposition of the men who did not join the Alabama 54th is unknown.
